Ballet & Tap

This class is designed to introduce to young children to  the style and vocabulary of ballet. We will work on the concepts of turning out, pointing toes, standing tall and “tucked-in”  enjoying and moving to music. The tap portion of this class focuses on rhythm and counting. Both portions of class work toward following directions, working with a group and acquiring skills necessary to perform in a group (for example, waiting their turns). We will learn a short dance to perform on the last class.

General Information
  • Classes led by Jennifer Jaques: BFA in Dance , from The Boston Conservatory
  • Ballet shoes suggested (but socks work, too)
  • Tap shoes are fun for the “noise” factor, but we understand that little feet grow quickly, so hard bottom shoes are a fine substitute
